About the SADC Youth Forum
The SADC Youth Forum is in its second edition, having been launched in Dar es Salaam Tanzania in 2019. The SADC Youth Forum is an annual event hosted before the SADC Heads of States and Government Summit to deliberate on critical issues affecting young people in the region. The 2nd SADC Youth Forum came after a successful First Addition hosted by Southern Africa Youth Forum (SAYoF-SADC) in Tanzania in partnership with SADC-CNGO and Action Aid International. The first edition which took place at the 15th SADC-CSF; discussed key themes and it was themed,
“Catalysing Youth Agency in Regional processes: Towards a Youth Friendly SADC.”
A bit more about us
The youth who constitute more than two-thirds of the SADC region are important players in the development of the region and their demographic dividend must be harnessed. The 2nd SADC Youth Forum hosted by Mozambique came at a time when the world is faced with a deadly pandemic, the Covid-19 (Coronavirus), young people’s innovative minds were brought together to craft lasting mechanisms during and after the Covid-19 crisis.
SAYoF-SADC is led by a Regional Executive composed of 7 SADC Countries, a Regional Secretariat which works with 16 Country Directors and Chapters. SAYoF-SADC currently has ten (10) key Thematic Committees namely: Governance, Leadership, and Political Inclusion, Peace and Security, Environment and Climate Change, Education, Science and Technology, Business, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Disability, Gender Justice, Pan-Africanism and Heritage, Media and Communications and Health and Covid-19.
