The Southern Africa Youth Forum


The Southern Africa Youth Forum (SAYoF-SADC) is a regional coordinating body and platform for youth and youth organizations in SADC, works with SADC Secretariat, and a youth representative in SADC-CNGO. Founded based on the increasing demand by young people to be important players and stockholders in regional and national processes, proffer solidarity and solutions at national, regional, and international level; participation in sustainable transformation and the agenda set by SADC Heads of States and Government, the SADC Secretariat, SADC organs among other national, regional and international stakeholders, using the Youth Development Model (YDM). The Southern Africa Youth Forum (SAYoF-SADC) is the primary convener of the SADC Youth Forum and SADC Youth Parliament an annual gathering by young people in SADC poised to influence policy and make recommendations to the SADC Heads of State and Government. SAYoF-SADC is the Africa Focal Point in United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth (UNMGCY) and a member of the Africa Youth Front (AYF) on COVID-19 high-level policy and advocacy framework set by the Africa Union (AU) for young people to co-lead Africa’s response to Covid-19, led by AU Office of the Youth Envoy. SAYoF-SADC is led by a Regional Executive composed of 7 SADC Countries, a Regional Secretariat which works with 16 Country Directors and Chapters. SAYoF-SADC currently has ten (10) key Thematic Committees namely: Governance, Leadership, and Political Inclusion, Peace and Security, Environment and Climate Change, Education, Science and Technology, Business, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Disability, Gender Justice, Pan-Africanism and Heritage, Media and Communications and Health and Covid-19.
